The Importance of Finding a Mentor

Today I am going to talk to you about finding a mentor and why I think it could make the difference between success and failure in your business.

I have been studying the Internet Marketing world for a few years now I have attended some seminars & courses and one thing I have noticed is that most of the successful entrepreneurs have a few things in common. I will list them below. I am sure there are a few more but these are the ones that seem most obvious to me.

  •  They all seem to be good at communicating with people (good networking skills)
  • They outsource a lot of their work. They do what they are good at and outsource a lot of the work they are not so good at or just plain outsource the work that they don’t have time to do themselves.
  • They like creating shortcuts. If there is something that takes up their time they will look at ways to get the job done quicker. This may involve getting a piece of software made to do the job more quickly and efficient than they could do it themselves manually. Again if they don’t know how to create the software themselves they will outsource it to someone who knows how to get the job done.
  • They have all failed lots of times, but they don’t look at failure as a bad thing they look at it as just another way of how not to do something. If something fails or doesn’t produce the results required they will try a different method or make little tweaks and changes until things start to change and produce the results that they want. They never give up.
  • They are prepared to invest in themselves they are always learning new skills or taking courses themselves.
  • When you look into their backgrounds they all seemed to have had a mentor at some stage of their journey. Someone that has already taken the path to success and also failed along the way.

Now the way I look at it is this. Having your own mentor is a massive shortcut to getting to where you want to a lot faster. If you think about it a mentor will have already travelled on the road to success and know what works and what doesn’t.

How much time could a mentor save you. They have been there and know what works and what doesn’t. Think of the time and heart ache it could save you. How many times they could stop you from going down the wrong path. Imagine spending hours or days on something that you thought would work only to find out at the end that you made the wrong decision by trying to do it all by yourself.

I personally have now taken on my own mentor to help me on my journey to success. If you have read any of my other posts you will already know that he goes by the name of John Thornhill. I am on His Partnership to Success program. Yes I did have to pay to be on the course. As mentioned above successful people are prepared to invest in themselves & learn new skills. This is exactly what I am doing now investing in myself.

So as you can see although I am writing about the importance of having a mentor you can see I am actually practicing what I preach and believe here too.

Now I have followed John Thornhill for a while and he is one of the good guys. John actually teaches the methods he actually does inside his own business. So I have a lot of faith and trust in him.

If you want to find a mentor for yourself in your field of interest do your research. Search on Google and in the forums to see what other people are saying about your prospective mentor. Make sure they are teaching what you want to know and see if other students that they have taught have had much success.

I hope this post has helped you to understand the importance and advantages of having your own mentor.

Robert Chenery

Like you I believe John Thornhill is one of the good guys and I looking forward to the whole year programme taking me to the next level.

I really think that teaching us how to create our own products is key to this future success and John is the only IM mentor I’ve found who is happy to share ALL his secrets with you for the one fee!

    Hi Robert,

I agree with you on that. Every single successful marketer has a mentor at some place. And if you look at it, even their mentors have or had a mentor and the list could go on.

Having a mentor not only helps to point out the right direction for our journey, he will also push us along the way.

I am very confident that with John Thornhill we found exactly the right mentor doing this.

I wish you much success on your P2S journey,
    Torsten
