I am finding it is a constant battle to find the right balance.

Whoever thinks that making a living online is easy they need to think again, anyone that is making a good income online has put in the hard work behind the scenes before becoming successful in this business.

On my journey I have found out that there are lots of different aspects that have to be learnt to help you move forward in Internet Marketing.

I have listed just a few of them below:

Copywriting (writing Sales copy)

Creating Graphics (Photoshop)

Creating and uploading websites

Affiliate Marketing

Social media marketing

Blogging

Driving Traffic to your website

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)

Just having a basic understanding of how things work can help you move on in leaps and bounds in this industry. The trouble is that there are so many different areas and subjects to learn about that we can’t become masters of them all, even if you could how would you make time to implement all of them.

This is where outsourcing can be a great advantage and there are plenty of different websites out there with qualified individuals to help you. Here are just a few that I have come across over the years, www.elance.com www.odesk.com , or www.fiver.com . Alternatively you can visit various forums such as the Warrior Forum or Digital Point Forum where there are plenty of people who also offer their expertise.

I too use outsourcing and you can see just one example of this right here on my Blog. Take a look at the header graphic at the top, the one with my name and a picture of a good looking guy on it. I outsourced this to Steve at gfx-1. I can highly recommend him please feel free to check out his website.

I own a copy of Photoshop and could have created the graphic myself however it can be quite time consuming so I decided to outsource it to Steve because he has a lot more experience. With his experience he was able to create these graphics in a fraction of time it would have taken me. With giving this to Steve to do for me I am then able to free up some of my valuable time to move forward in other areas of my business.

Successful people leverage other people’s time and money. If you are short on time or could think of a better way to use your time to move forward then you should seriously consider outsourcing some of your workload to help you advance in the right direction.

Regards

John has shown us various different elements we can add to our blogs if we want to.

Below is a list of the various elements we have been shown.

Adding images

Adding videos

Adding content to header and footer

Adding banner ads to posts

Widgets

Legal disclaimers

The elements we add are totally of our own choosing so it is a case of our personal choice of what we wanted to add or not.

At the moment I have added some images and a legal disclaimer as I am quite happy with everything else as it is.

I may later use some of the other elements as and when I feel there is a need for them on my blog. The main thing here is we have been given some extra choices to use as and where we see fit to use them.

This got me thinking about the different types of businesses that people run online and how secure they actually are.

A few years ago I did some research on what was selling on eBay I decided I would import some goods and sell them over here in the UK.

I checked out the completed listings on eBay and found that Foetal Doppler’s were selling quite well so I found my supplier and imported some.

I was a few days into selling the Doppler’s which were selling quite well when all of a sudden eBay took down my listings with no explanation.

At the time it was quite hard to contact eBay I did this via email and eventually the reason why my listings were pulled off was because they didn’t like me selling these items outside of Europe, even though other sellers were selling worldwide. I also couldn’t see what the problem was as I imported them from China in the first place.

I eventually continued to sell these items but only to Europe as per eBay’s request but was left a little disgruntled because other sellers were still selling worldwide. It felt like I had been singled out. I didn’t want to lose my eBay account so I just had to play ball and go along with it.

This made me think twice about wanting to focus fully on eBay as a business model because when all said and done they were the ones that had the last word on my business on what, how and where I could sell. It made me feel a bit uneasy and out of control.

If you are thinking or running a business that relies on other market places such as eBay or Amazon it would also be wise to have your own personal websites or blogs up and running and perhaps use different payment processors as well.

This way if one of them decides they want to give your business a slap in the face you will still have other income streams coming in and you won’t be left high and dry.

Regards

We then had to be add our blogs to the Partnership To Success network.

Once this had all been setup. I then had to do a bit of blog hopping which is writing comments on other blogs. Doing this then creates a back link to our own blogs and is a way of driving traffic back to our own blogs.

It seems a bit short and sweet this week but I have been trying to write as many comments on other blogs as I can to get me used to creating content.

If you have been studying Internet Marketing for any length of time you will come to realise that at some point in your career you will have to get some sales copy written for your products.

There are 2 ways to do this you can either pay an experienced copywriter to write it for you which can be expensive especially if you are just starting out, or you can take steps to learn how to do it yourself.

There are quite a few books already written about the process one I can recommend is Randolf Smiths Sales Letter ABC and another respected copywriter that springs to mind is Ted Nicholas, who also has a couple of books out called “How To Turn Words Into Money” & “Magic Words That Bring You Riches”.

The one thing that all copywriters will have somewhere amongst their tool kit is a SWIPE FILE.

So what actually is a SWIPE FILE?

A SWIPE FILE is a collection of sales letters and sales material that have been collected over the years that can be used as a reference guide when writing your own sales copy.

If you have ever tried to write sales copy starting off with a blank page can be quite hard. You can sometimes get a mental block which slows you down. This is a good time to pull out your swipe file to get some ideas flowing and start the ball rolling.

Now I must make this clear a swipe file is to help you get ideas from and not something you should actually copy from. You see the sales letters will be protected by copy write but what you can do is find some Ideas and put them into your own words.

Another reason a Swipe File is handy is that you can see how a sales letter is constructed. One common term I have heard when writing sales copy is this A.I.D.A. which stands for Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action.

Attention = Grab the attention of your potential customer usually with a good attention grabbing headline.

Interest = Get your customers interest by explaining the advantages and benefits you product would bring to them the prospective customer.

Desire = Convince your customers that the product will satisfy their needs and therefore making the decision to purchase a lot easier for them.

Action = A call to action to get your customer to take action and make the purchase.

You see there is actually a certain way that successful sales letters are written and having a swipe file in front of you can not only help you with the wording but you can also see how they are visually set out.

Now you can buy swipe files if you do a search on Google I am sure you will come up with some that are for sale already collated on a disk or some other format. Another way and I have also been doing this myself is to collect the sales letters (Junk Mail) that you get through the post, especially if there is one that you keep getting time and time again. The reason for this is if there is one that keeps on coming out to you it is a good indicator that the company is generating sales from it.

Below is a photo of just a small amount of the letters that I have personally collected over the years which have some good sales copy on them.

The other thing I have noticed is that a lot of these offline physical sales letters point you to their online businesses for example they tell you something like for further information visit and put in their website address.

So don’t rule out using offline marketing tactics to drive traffic to your online business. You will also notice some different techniques that various marketers use to get their mail opened you will notice on the above picture I have labelled some objects.

Some of them use different colour envelopes to make it look personal rather than junk mail. Some of them use what is known as lumpy mail to get the letter opened one example is the imitation firework that was enclosed with a sales letter and a headline saying something along the lines of when you have finished reading this letter you may want to light this firework in celebration of your future success.

Another option is to send out a physical CD as pictured above. These are all different marketing tactics to make them stand out from the crowd to get their message read.

Another place to find good sales copy is in newspapers and magazines keep your eyes opened for any advertisements with good sales copy in them and add these to your swipe file.

Sometimes in the newspapers or magazines you will be reading a full page article about a product and if you look closely somewhere at the top or bottom of the page it will tell you that it is actually an advertisement. Imagine how expensive an advert like this would cost so it would probably have been written by a decent copywriter.

Also newspaper headlines are designed to sell newspapers so take note of the headlines that you see and you never know you might come across one that you can adapt to a headline on one of your sales letters.

I hope you found this article helpful and informative

Regards

First of all I had to set up a new list in Aweber. I then had to write a new confirmation email so that when anyone subscribes to my list they will be thanked and told what will happen next.

The next step was to upload some graphics to my blog these graphics will make part of the opt in form that I am putting onto my blog.

I then had to log into Aweber my auto responder and add the opt in graphics to my opt in web form

Next I had to add some code to my blog which makes the pop up active.

After adding in my affiliate link I then had to test everything to make sure that it was all working ok.

The final task was to finish off by writing some auto responder messages to go out to my customers after they have opted in to my list.

We all know that the internet is an excellent invention it’s great for communication, research and a whole lot of other things. But it does have its draw backs.

The trouble is that there is so much information out there that it is so easy for you to get distracted from what you need to be focusing on.

In the internet marketing world I have found this to be one of the major hurdles that needs to be addressed to help you move forward.

When you start researching into internet marketing and the different ways to earn an income online you will discover there are many different topics within this industry.

Affiliate marketing

Social media marketing

eBay

Amazon

Resell Rights

Pay Per Click

Blogging

These are just a few I am sure there are many more you can think of.

When you start out doing your research and try to learn more about this industry you will end up investing in yourself by purchasing products, or even just downloading a free eBook that helps you to further understand a particular topic.

This is where the information overload starts to take effect, because what normally happens when you buy a product online or download a freebie is that you end up signing up to a mailing list.

You only have to sign up to four or five products and you are then getting regular messages to your email inbox and the more products you buy or download the more messages you will get to your inbox.

Now some of theses messages will contain some good sound advice with the occasional link to a product which may help you in your business. But again this is just more information being put in front of you to read and again taking up more of your time when you could be focusing on something else to move your business forward.

What you need to do here is take a step back and look at what type of information is being sent to your inbox.

Do they offer you some free helpful valuable advice and occasionally point you in the direction of something that will help you to build your online business. Or are they constantly trying to sell you something without giving any value to you along the way. Quite often these types of marketers also promote the push button products that offer to make you money by doing hardly any work at all.

If it’s the latter I would advise that you unsubscribe from their list straight away as they are only interested in themselves and not building a long term relationship with their customers. Any honest successful online marketer will tell you that you constantly need to work on your business and that there are no quick push button fixes.

You see you have to monitor your emails because before you know it your inbox will be full of emails promoting the next best thing and you won’t know if you are on your head or your bum, causing massive information overload and procrastination.

One tip to stop this is to try not to look at your emails until you have achieved all you need to throughout the day. Or if this is not possible just glance over them deal with the important ones first then come back later to browse over the less important ones.

If you have any methods on how you deal with information overload please feel free to leave a comment I would love to hear from you.

Kind regards

This week it was a little bit more technical which was ok for me as I quite enjoy the technical side of things. So here is a run down of what I have been up to on the course.

Register an account with Aweber this is an auto responder that will help to build mailing lists of subscribers you can check them out here.

We then had to setup a list, a confirmation message and an opt-in form in aweber then we added our opt-in form onto our blogs.

We added some social media icons to our blogs and had to link them to our social media pages, (see image below) for example the Facebook icon, if clicked on by a visitor they will be taken to my Facebook page.

Finally I had to make some adjustments to the sidebars on my blog so that the icons were positioned correctly and didn’t look out of place.

I am really pleased with the way things are moving along on this course and have already learned heaps not to mention the excellent information and contacts in the forum.

Until next week

Regards

Robert Chenery

This week on Partnership To Success we had to block or unblock the ad categories in our Google Adsense account. What this does is lets us choose what type of ads we want or don’t want shown on our blogs or websites.

So as an example the content on my blog here at www.robertchenery.com is based around Internet marketing so I would want ads showing that relate to the content on my blog which is Internet Marketing and Business.

So I can restrict Google from showing ads about Dating or Dining Out and other non related topics.

We then moved on to actually getting our publisher code from inside of our adsense accounts and inserting this code into our blogs.

The publisher code is generated by Google and when inserted into your blog Google starts to display their adsense ads on your website.

You can also manipulate the ads and change the colour of the font, border and background you also have the option of showing just text ads or image ads.

Another important point that John mentions time and time again is that when you have your adsense ads on your website you may be tempted to click on your own ads to earn you some extra money. Do not do this as Google will know and they will ban you from using their adsense ads and thus loosing you another income stream.

The final stage was adding links to other websites and blogs from our own blogs.

That sums up this weeks training I hope you found it useful

Regards
